Get matched with a plumber
One work order, up to three matches, ranked by the published formula. Matches are shown from listings and paying members in your state, with your city ranked first; your job is sent only to paying member businesses among your matches.
Get Matched With a Plumber
Water on the floor does not wait for a free afternoon of phone calls, and neither does a planned remodel. Get matched is this directory's free matching service for homeowners: you describe the job once, and we show you up to three matching plumbing businesses on screen, ranked by the formula we publish. If any of your matches is a paying member of this directory, we notify that member about your request by email so they can reply to you directly. Most listings in this directory are public records that the business has not claimed, and we do not notify unclaimed listings: for those matches, the listing page gives you the business's phone number and website so you can contact them yourself. There is no charge to you at any point, and requesting a match creates no obligation to hire anyone.
How It Works
Step 1: Describe the job. The form asks for the type of work (for example drain, water heater, leak, sewer, or new installation), the property address or ZIP code so we can match on service area, a short description of the problem or the project, your preferred timing, and your name, phone number, and email address so a member can reply. The form takes written details only; it does not accept photos. The more specific the description, the more useful the replies: "the kitchen drain blocks every few weeks and is slow again now" produces better estimates than "plumbing problem."
Step 2: We match on area, trade, and the published formula. Your request is matched against listings and paying members in your state, with businesses in your city ranked first. Matches are ordered under the published formula on How Rankings Work: verification status, reviews, response time, and profile completeness. Matching is performed against listings as they stand when you submit. We do not hold requests back to wait for more businesses, and matches never come from outside your state.
Step 3: Replies, where they come. A paying member who matches your request is notified by email and may reply to you directly, using the details you provided, under their own name. We cannot promise that any business will reply, and we do not promise a reply within any particular time: whether and how fast a business responds is that business's decision. Unclaimed listings among your matches are not notified by us, so contact those businesses yourself from their listing pages if you want to reach them. From the first reply onward the conversation is between you and the plumber. Ask for the written, itemized estimate, the license number, and the insurance certificate before you agree to work, using the checklist in How to Choose a Plumber, and set the job up under a written agreement as described in The Complete Guide to Hiring a Plumber.
Step 4: Hire, or do not. You may hire one of the plumbers who replied, hire someone else entirely, or hire nobody. Nothing in this service requires you to proceed, and there is no fee, penalty, or follow-up sales process attached to declining.
What Happens After You Submit
Your request enters matching as soon as you submit it, and the confirmation you get is the one on this site: a screen that shows your lead reference number and your top matches, right away. We do not send a separate confirmation email for a match request, and we do not send a later notice if nobody replies, because no process watches your request after the matches are shown. If none of your matches is a paying member, no business is notified by us, and your next step is to contact the matched businesses directly from their listings, where their phone numbers and websites are published. If your situation becomes an emergency while you wait, shut off the water at the main valve if water is actively damaging your home and call a plumber directly. Matching is a practical tool for repairs and planned work, not an emergency dispatch service, and we would rather state that plainly here than have you learn it during a flood.
What It Costs: Nothing
Matching is free for homeowners: no fee to submit, no fee per introduction, and no charge added to any plumber's invoice for work you later agree between yourselves. Directory of Plumbers is funded by the businesses that choose paid tiers on our Pricing page. That funding model is published, and it does not change your price with any plumber. If anyone claiming to act for this directory asks you, the homeowner, for a payment to arrange an introduction, do not pay it and report it through our contact page.
What Data Is Shared, and With Whom
Plainly: when you submit the form, the job description, the property address or ZIP code, your name, and the phone number and email address you provide are shared with the paying members who are notified about your request, so they can assess the job and reply to you. Unclaimed listings shown among your matches do not receive your details from us. Your details are shared for that introduction, for that job. We do not sell homeowner contact details as a list, and submitting a match request does not sign you up for unrelated marketing. Plumbers who receive your details receive them to respond to your request. What a plumber does with contact details inside its own business is governed by that business's own practices, which is a further reason to deal, from the first reply onward, with businesses whose documents check out under How We Verify.
Ready when you are: describe the job once, see your matches on screen, and use the Plumber Cost Guide to judge each quote against typical 2026 ranges before you choose.
